The SY018 DIN rail Voltage to 4-20mA signal converter is used to communicate analogue signals over long distances where electrical interference may be a problem. This solution is often used in the process control industry to collect the analogue values from a wide array of remote sensors. The converter is valuable because current signals are much less susceptible to noise than voltage signals. A voltage signal can be converted to current and broadcast over a long distance. 4-20 mA transmitters are common in the industry and used with high-quality sensors. The resulting signals can be use in controlling drives or to trigger instruments that have settable thresholds and limits.
Voltage ranges of 0-2V, 0-2.5V, 0-5V and 0-10V can be specified.
If the voltage inputs are specified for a different range then the output can be factory scaled to give 4mA at zero and 20mA to the top of the input range. Zero and span trimmers give a wide range of adjustment.
The unit can be supplied as a built pcb with rising clamp terminal blocks but is recommended in a very neat 72,5 x 18 x 62mm Din rail case, with connection made by rising clamp terminals with 3.5 x 2.5mm apertures. Alternatives enclosures include an ip65 wall mounting ABS case with self sealing glands which is 80 x 80 x 62mm plus mounting lugs suitable for the DC powered version.
A larger ABS case with M12 glands which houses the Circuit and a mother board with a mains power supply is offered but should only be chosen in conjunction with the mains powered version.
